Children need to have a proper lunch to remain alert at school, to concentrate and to get the best out of their education. Evidence shows that not every child is in a position to do this, often because of a rumbling tummy.

Schools in the National Capital Region identify any children who would benefit from our service. The school then contacts the parents to ask for their consent. Once given, the schools contact Hungry to Help, usually by email, and the free lunches can start straightaway, maybe once a week, twice a week or five days a week according to what is needed. Most importantly, the names of the individual children are kept confidential throughout, so no stigma is attached.

We buy the meals from licensed caterers who are already providing a lunchtime meal service to the schools. There is no distinction made between meals bought by parents and those provided by Hungry to Help.
