Hungry to Help

Hungry for help, is a registered charity funded entirely by donations. Our mission is to provide free nutritious meals to disadvantaged students in the National Capital Region.

In 2003, a resident of Gatineau (Aylmer) realized that even though the vast majority of our schoolchildren were happy and lacking in nothing, some of them needed help. Specifically, she observed that some children arrived at school hungry and that they had nothing to eat all day.

As implausible as it may seem, in the schools our children attend, teachers and midday supervisors paid for meals to hungry children. A child who is malnourished cannot concentrate on his lessons or learn anything. This situation greatly reduces the child's chances of finishing his studies. This is how the cycle of poverty begins and continues.

From the imperative need to help these disadvantaged children was born Hungry to Help
